Compact disc CD also termed as optical disk use to store digital data and is most well-liked way of data storage available today. Initially it was designed to store and play back sound recordings but now widely use for data storage which we call CD-Rom. The structure of a CD is comprised on 4 layers, a poly carbonate disc that encodes data through bumps, a shiny layer for laser reflection, a lacquer for protection of the above shiny layer and the top layer where screen is printed called Artwork, a laser beam is also present between the layers that reads Cd and reflects back to sensor which later converts it into electronic data.
Formerly the playing time for CD was 60 minutes for the Sony disc with diameter of 100mm and for Philips disc diameter of 115 mm. but then Sony President Nohrio Ohga extended the playing time up to 74 minutes that was larger than 20 minutes each on both sides. Then Manufactured CDs those who are sold in market are sealed through a certain method called poly wrapping or shrink wrapping. The broadly used CD technologies which have been using up till now in Computer Industry are CD-ROMs and CD-Rs. Now Compact Disc has significantly increased its importance as it uses as one of the required stationery items , what so ever if you purchases a new CD or burn the old one to record the desired data or information.
